Who’s in your corner?

Even the best Leaders dont have all the answers

Running and growing an SME can be incredibly rewarding, but let’s be honest, some days it can feel really heavy.

Here’s the truth: the best leaders know they don’t need to have all the answers, they just need the right people around them. Thats where a business coach comes in.

I’ve been working with over 70 SME leaders for the last decade, helping them as a sounding board, challenger, and trusted partner. People often come to me not necessarily for a big programme, but for real time help, with real issues, in real time.

Common challenges I hear from entrepreneurial leaders…

  • The weight of decisions – Every choice feels high-stakes. Having a sounding board brings clarity and confidence.
  • People challenges – A big one. From underperformance to keeping people motivated, it’s not always straightforward. A coach helps you tackle the tough conversations and bring people with you.
  • Time pressure – Pulled in a dozen directions, with no time to think on the business. Coaching creates space to step back and refocus.
  • Strategy vs. firefighting – You want to drive the business forward, but urgent issues keep dragging you back. A coach helps cut through the noise and set direction.
  • Isolation at the top – You’ve got a great team, but sometimes you can’t share every doubt. A coach gives you that safe, confidential space.
  • Confidence – Even seasoned leaders question themselves. Coaching builds confidence in your judgement and decision-making.

The Importance of ‘Fit’

Finding the right business coach is a lot like finding the right business partner, if the chemistry isn’t there, it won’t work.

If you’re after theory, frameworks, or a tick-box approach, then I’m not for you. But if you want someone who’s:

  • Practical: Focused on real challenges in real time
  • Straight-talking: No jargon, no fluff
  • Positively challenging:Supportive, but not afraid to push your thinking
